Renault says 4 & 5 EVs will get more range, someday
Renault CEO Luca de Meo has revealed that the all-electric models number 4 and 5 will get long-range version rated at approximately 500 km (310 miles) per charge “in a few years”.
These new cars are expected to come equipped with superior lithium-iron-phosphate battery cells supplied by LG Chem. There are still no specifics regarding their actual capacity or launch date.
Right now, the Renault 4 & 5 both ship with lithium-ion traction batteries provided by AESC. The 40-kWh pack is rated for 300 km (186 miles) and the larger 52-kWh pack is enough for 400 km (248 miles).
