Chery’s first pickup spied on premises

The Chinese automaker is busy designing its first-ever pickup truck, AutoHome.cn reports posting the first images of it.

The vehicle comes loaded with assorted travel-friendly accessories and upgrades. For one thing, it has a frame above the bed that can be used for mounting tools and equipment, gas cans or storage boxes. It is also designed to support a roof tent along with an access ladder and an awning for outdoor breakfasts. While Chery hasn’t properly introduced it yet, the truck looks like it will be targeting active leisure enthusiasts first and foremost.

On the exterior side of things, the model has an impressively large company logo on the front grille, stacked headlights, pronounced bumpers and mud tires. It is unclear what kind of chassis it rides on, and we suspect it could be a third-party design sourced by Chery specifically for this project.

AutoHome believes that the still-unnamed truck will go on sale equipped with a 2.4-liter petrol engine as standard. There should also be plug-in and serial hybrid options on the list. Just when it may debut is still unknown, though. Rumors claim that Chery plans to start exporting the pickup to other countries in 2025.
