Old Chevy K5 Blazer takes youth pills, becomes a SEMA hit

Renowned tuning company Ringbrothers has brought quite a few amazing vehicles to this month’s SEMA show, some of which you can see in this video. The Chevrolet K5 Blazer shown at the end was a true attention-grabber, though.

The tuners worked with a 1972 Blazer model, putting over 3,700 hours into restoring it to top condition. Without changing the ride height, they cut the sides and the rear overhang so as to get 50 mm (2 inches) of extra ground clearance. They also put 18-inch HRE wheels finished in bronze into the arches to let the venerable off-roader go off the trodden path once again.

And it’s not just for show, either, because the project car gets its power from a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 rated at 525 PS (518 hp / 386 kW) and 660 Nm (487 lb-ft) of torque. It uses a six-speed automatic transmission and a transfer case to deliver the momentum to all four wheels. The wheels are individually suspended on Total Chaos arms and King shocks, making the K5 Blazer an equally good ride for the wilderness and the highway.

A Dakota Digital dashboard, a 3D-printed gear lever, a carbon-trimmed steering wheel and a high-end audio system sum up the major changes in the cabin.

Ringbrothers never revealed how much this K5 Blazer “TUKA” cost to make, but you could always make an inquiry.
