Yangwang U9 makes a Nürburgring lap

Another Chinese automaker has let its hypercar loose on the North Loop in Germany.

A stock and apparently unmodified Yangwang U9 coupe packing quad electric motors rated at 1,306 PS (1,288 hp / 960 kW) has lapped up the whole ‘Ring in 7 minutes 17.9 seconds. We mean the bigger 20.8-kilometer (12.9-mile) track here, just to be specific. It almost hit 392 km/h (244 mph) doing so.

The lap time pales compared to the result shown by Xiaomi’s SU7 Ultra not long ago, but that one was a heavily tuned prototype. In contrast, the Yangwang U9 has been on sale in China since the beginning of the year – you can get one starting from the equivalent of U.S. $232,000.

With a lap time of 7 minutes 5.3 seconds, the Rimac Nevera continues to hold the title of the Nürburgring’s fastest production EV.
