Scout comes back with Traveler & Terra

Scout, a vehicle brand brought back into the United States by Volkswagen Group, has unveiled its first production models – an SUV named Traveler and a pickup truck called Terra. Both are scheduled for production in 2027.

The company boasts designing a custom body-on-frame platform specifically for these two models. It revolves around an 800V architecture, supports fast charging from sources rated up to 350 kW, and can accommodate two types of powertrains – battery-electric and serial hybrid.

The EVs get between two and four motors depending on the spec and can cover at least 560 km (348 miles) on a charge. The hybrids exceed 800 km (497 miles) of range. Top trims exert over 1,300 Nm (959 lb-ft) of torque and reach 96.6 km/h (60 mph) in 3.5 seconds.

Customers can choose from different ground clearances going up to 300 mm (11.7 inches) in the most off-road-capable specs. Those also ship with grippy 35-inch tires and can wade water up to 900 mm (35 inches) high. Scout also mentions a front stabilizer that you can toggle on/off and interaxle diff locks included as standard.
